Program Guidelines, Eligibility, and Expectations

At Narrow Road Recovery Ranch, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and structured environment where men can pursue meaningful recovery. To support this, we have established clear expectations and admission criteria. Please review the following carefully. Failure to meet these requirements or follow program guidelines may result in denial of admission or discharge from the program. Narrow Road Recovery Ranch reserves the right to decline applicants who are unable or unwilling to comply with these standards.

Substance-Free Commitment

Narrow Road Recovery Ranch operates as a fully abstinence-based program. The possession or use of any of the following is strictly prohibited:

Alcohol or illicit drugs
Tobacco or nicotine products (including cigarettes, chewing tobacco, vaping devices, nicotine patches, or gum)
Cannabis in any form (THC, CBD oils, edibles, or related products)
Non-alcoholic alcoholic beverages (such as alcohol-free beer, wine, or similar drinks)
Any associated items (e.g., lighters, pipes, rolling papers, vaporizers)

Mental Health Considerations

Our program is not designed to provide intensive psychiatric care. For this reason, we are unable to admit individuals experiencing severe or unmanaged mental health conditions, including:

Schizophrenia or related disorders
Bipolar disorder involving psychosis
Active psychosis or untreated psychiatric illness
Significant cognitive limitations or developmental challenges
Recent suicide attempts or current suicidal thoughts requiring clinical intervention
Individuals receiving long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications

Medical Stability and Medication Guidelines

Applicants must be physically stable prior to admission
Detoxification must be completed before entering the program; we do not provide detox services
Individuals requiring ongoing IV treatment or complex medical supervision cannot be accommodated
Daily use of narcotic pain medication or benzodiazepines is not permitted
We are unable to accept individuals currently participating in Opioid Agonist Therapy (such as Methadone, Suboxone, Sublocade, Kadian, or injectable opioid treatments)

Program Participation Requirements

Residents are expected to fully engage in all aspects of the program, including:

Individual and group counselling
Personal development planning
Group discussions and peer support
Faith-based or spiritual gatherings (where applicable)
Daily responsibilities, including physical work or service tasks

Participants should arrive ready to actively invest in their recovery and personal growth.

Conduct and Safety Standards

To maintain a healthy and secure environment:

Violence or threats of violence toward others will result in immediate dismissal
Any form of sexual misconduct is strictly prohibited
Harassment, intimidation, or aggressive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated

Legal Disclosure Requirements

Applicants must disclose any past or current legal issues. Please note:

Individuals with a history of sexual offences are not eligible for admission. This includes offences such as sexual assault, harassment, or crimes involving minors or adults
Charges related to exploitation or illegal materials involving minors will result in ineligibility
Other violent offences may affect acceptance into the program
Certain legal conditions (bail, probation, parole) may require review and approval prior to entry

Application and Communication

All applicants must have access to a personal email address to complete the intake process. If assistance is needed to set one up, please seek support. This email will be used as your primary form of communication and identification throughout the application process.
